MAC’s Naked Liner Lip Pencil SANS gloss (notice the crackhead effect??) JUST WRONG!!

Along with the rest of the world, I was ECSTATIC when I saw that MAC was introducing 2 new pale shades of lipliner. I’ve always thought their selection was sparse (a bit dark and sometimes a touch too red for me)…so when Naked Liner and In Synch dropped with the Too Fabulous Collection, I was sure to hop on the bandwagon. BUT wearing nude shades is something you should be cautious with. When too opaque you get the crackhead/powdered doughnut effect and how’s that cute? Be sure to follow up with a similar hued gloss (with a touch of sheen) on top, OR if you are in fact going for a matte look, apply lipstick with a brush-it makes ALL the difference. *TIP: exfoliating the lips regularly will cut down on flaking and cracking, enhancing your nude look. You can’t tell from my picture up there, but typically I use a toothbrush or terry wash cloth at night, followed by a thick layer of lip balm.

The original nude- Twiggy circa 1960-something. This mod look consisted of a geometric dark eye and pale lip. A FAVORITE of today.

The most sought after nude-According to industry insiders, Kim K is rumored to wear Nars Turkish Delight lipgloss over MAC Angel lipstick. Whatever it is, we ALL want it.

The UNDESIRABLE nudes-Don’t let Tyrone Biggums and Magda be your inspirations. Although a nude lip looks gorgeous with a tan, be SUBTLE. Please??

    But don’t get clownilicous with the gloss either! (that’s a whole other post) Haha
    Kim K actually gave that MAC angel with Nars turkish delight info herself so she definitely does use it. The trick is using MAC stripdown liner with the combo, that’s what she does. It’s a nice pale pink lip on her. Some cool pinks can make your teeth look yellow tho and that’s never good :/

    Ps. I use baby washcloths to exfoliate my lips! (Same-sies!)

    Kristen after I took this picture I put on Prrr Lipglass over it, it looked great. The nudes/pinks I love are Hue, Myth, Fleshpot, Angel, Snob, Pink Plaid, and St. Germain-all from MAC. There’s a ton more but those are the ones I use most. I usually end up combining two or more colors for added texture or sheen, depending on what mood I’m in. And I always end up using the tiniest bit of Stripdown or Subculture liner (and will continue even WITH Naked Liner) for added dimension. Hope that helps!

    I love the look, but I have a hard time finding nude colors with my dark skin. I need to go to Mac and stock up on several things. Any suggestions for us darker skinned women?

    Camille – I’m not dark but I love MAC Freckletone lipstick for a nude lip. Also try MAC Hug Me lipstick, that’s a good one! They are more neutral-nudes, rather than pastels/pinks like the above ones Miss.Summer mentioned. Try stripdown or oak lip pencils too :)

    Mario Dedivanovic, Kim K’s MUA also has said several times that he will use concealor over moisturized lips with a gloss for the perfect nude lip as well. The guy is amazing! ;)

    I wear Angel w/ a dazzleglass over it in bare necessities and it usually looks good @ the beggining but i find that it dries my lips out and they peel and end up looking all dried up and purple yuck. Any suggestions on what balms to use before I apply this?

    Hi Aggie I’ve never tried Dazzleglass before :/ I’ve been loyal to Prrr lipglass for years so I put it on everything. You probably need to exfoliate a little more. As for balms I like Smith’s Rosebud Salve or Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1
