The Holy PALE

MAC Amplified Crème Lipstick in Saint Germain

*NOT my lips..wish they were though! (images via flickr)

Leave it to me to be exactly ONE YEAR late on this color. From the Sugarsweet Collection Shew posted last February (as well as the Euristocrats II line in June), I finally got an up close and personal look at the color, Saint Germain. In my quest to collect EVERY shade of super opaque, matte pink lipstick, this one stole my heart. What’s YOUR favorite shade of pink? Help a lady out! Available at MAC online for $14

I actually have this color, its really pale and pastel-y. Another one of my faves is Revlon’s Pink pout-it’s a nude shade w/ a very pale pink hint to it.

Not everyone can pull this shade off. When I wear it I like to tone it down with florabundance lipglass to make it more wearable. It is very easy to end up with powder donut mouth with this lippie. For reference: the girl in the photo is NC25 like me. This lippie will look even paler on darker skin.

If you like Saint Germain you might like Viva Gaga lipstick and Melrose Mood lipstick from the Heatherette Collection.

Viva Gaga is pretty sheer on me, I tried it on while I was there but I have to get it anyway

When lipsticks are sheer on you but you like the color: scrape a chunk off, mix it around into a creamy glob, and then apply with a lip brush. It will apply much more opaque that way :)

It’s funny that you posted about this, because literally like a couple nites ago I was looking at swatches on a blog thinking, where the hell was I when this launched? I loooove me a super pale pink lip. Right now I’m pairing So Sweet, So Easy cremeblend blush with Ever So Rich or Partial to Pink cremesheen glass :)

LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAOOOO at Shew’s pic wtf!! We just watched re-runs of this the other week. Had me WEAK!! Sherry- it’s so easy to miss certain products because I feel like MAC has a new collection out every week. It’s overwhelming and you have to be hella dedicated to staying on top of it. That’s why we’re thankful for Shewsie ;)

one last story and i’ll quit rambling but the Tyrone Biggums pic reminds me of a time when the bf and I first started dating. I was in a rush getting ready so I hadn’t applied any lipstick so it was JUST foundation (I apply to my lips too). He got in the car and was like, “Why your lips look like a basehead’s???” I wanted to DIE!! So yeah, if you’e going to do a nude/pale lip, I think gloss and liner is essential for definition.
