Shew Review: Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse

Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse Foundation

Attention: This review is NOT for the Dream Matte Mousse Foundation.

This review is for the NEW Dream Smooth Mousse Foundation.

I picked up this foundation at my local CVS last week. I normally don’t do drugstore makeup. Not because I’m a high-end snob, but because I just haven’t had much luck when I have tried drugstore makeup. I do like Revlon Colorstay liquid makeup for summer. It stays matte and does not budge, even in heat and humidity. But for winter, especially when traveling to colder climates, I like a more moisturizing foundation. I’m so glad I picked this up and gave it a shot.

Read on for review…

I really like the texture of this foundation. It is a cream foundation, so if you are extremely oily this is not for you. It has medium coverage and is build-able, although if you have any dark spots you will still need concealer. You can use a brush or a sponge to apply depending on your preference, and the included sponge actually isn’t bad. I like using the MAC 187 stippling brush or a dense kabuki to buff this into skin. The foundation gives a nice smooth flawless look to the skin. The finish is satin, borderline dewy, so I recommend using a finishing powder. I did have to blot more often than I do with Revlon Colorstay, and I even saw a bit of product transfer on my blotting linen. In it’s defense, it was over 100 degrees, humid, and I was at a baseball game. If you’re going to test a product, test it to the limit right? ;)

Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse foundation comes in second, just behind Revlon Colorstay as my favorite drugstore foundation. If you have combo/dry skin or are looking for a winter foundation please give this a try. I like this much better than MAC studio tech and I see myself reaching for this often once it cools down here in AZ.

Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse foundation retails for $7.99 and is available at Ulta and CVS. I like CVS and Ulta because they accept returns if a product doesn’t work out for you. Always save your receipts!

This is also known as Dream Creamy Mousse overseas if you are an international reader :)
For reference I am around MAC NC30 and the 240 Natural Beige was a good match for me.

I just don’t want to feel like I am wearing makeup! The tinted moisturizer is really light on my face and it doesn’t feel like i have anything on so that’s why I like it! Christina lets go makeup shopping at the grocery store soon! Love you!

You don’t need this Oscar. Stick to tinted moisturizer. Love you!

Oscar got me addicted to Studio Moisture Tint. I didn’t think it would have nearly as much coverage as it does and I am now in LOVE. I would love to find its drugstore counterpart

I have MAC Studio Moisture Tint as well and it is one of MAC’s better foundation products. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer is great too. I haven’t come across a great drugstore tinted moisturizer yet. Let me know if you do :)
