Shew Review: LUSH Angels on Bare Skin

Last week FF introduced you to LUSH – Fresh Handmade Cosmetics.

I am currently testing 9 of their skincare products from their Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes Kit and will be posting the reviews over the next week and a half.

My first review will be for the Angels on Bare Skin cleanser.

Angels on Bare Skin is their best-selling cleanser for all skin types – “For heavenly soft and balanced skin, take a smidge of Angels on Bare Skin, mix with a little water and massage in. The kaolin clay base deep cleanses while ground almonds gently exfoliate the dead skin away. Rose and lavender are added to soothe and help balance out combination skin.”

This is what the cleanser looks like. You take a medium pea size amount, and with a bit of warm water you make a paste in the palm of your hand. You then smooth the paste onto your skin and gently massage in. Then you rinse, The End.

Pros: Very nice exfoliating cleanser. Makes skin feel soft and smooth and look bright.

I notice a slight healthy glow after use :)
Cons: I used this in the a.m. so this wasn’t an issue for me, but this does NOT remove makeup so you would need to use a separate makeup remover first if you have makeup on.

Angels on Bare Skin retails for $9.95 for 3.5 oz.

Being that you only need a pea sized amount, this will last you quite a while. I have very sensitive skin and there is such a thing as over exfoliation, so I will only be using this a couple times a week as a scrub. This type of usage will make the tub last even longer.

That brings me to one more thing… Since these products are FRESH and handmade, they do expire sooner than mass produced products full of chemicals and preservatives. This cleanser lasts about 3 months. The sticker on the bottom of the container tells me when it was made and when I should use it by. It also shows me WHO made it.

*At the end of my 9 LUSH reviews I will be picking one lucky commenter to receive a LUSH Cosmetics Gift Card. So don’t hesitate to ask me any questions you might have or let me know your thoughts on these reviews ;)

Good for sensitive skin?? I’m sold… Stupid Q tho…. Do you need to do anything to your skin before you apply? I know it says “bare” but when is it best to use? Like after a warm shower when the pores open up? Or, do you need to moist your face with a warm towel or anything like that pre use?

Not a stupid question at all. If you are using it as a morning cleanser you don’t have to do anything to prep the skin. If you are using it in the evening and you have makeup on then you need to remove your makeup first. You can dampen your skin before use also but you don’t need to steam it unless you really want to. That’s more for preparation for a mask.

Just a little tip-off: when I bought this product, the woman who sold it to me said that although the expiration date is about 3 months from when you buy it, they put that because if too much moisture gets in there (like if you use it in the shower) the product may not be good to use (since water can make things moldy) but if you avoid getting moisture in the container, then it should be fine for a while longer than that.
