fast fix for partied out skin

Aveda Balancing Infusion For Oily Skin/Acne

MAC Care Blends Essential Oils (*available in Grapefruit+Chamomile and Sweet Orange+Lavender)

I LOVE fast fixes for my skin. I don’t have the greatest diet and the only exercise I get is from lifting a shot glass to my mouth, so the result is not pretty. My day after drinking skin is horrendous; half parched, half oil-slicked, so I normally stay indoors the day after a night out. Since I don’t plan on putting the bottle down anytime soon, I’ve revisited two products that work complete MIRACLES: Aveda Balancing Infusion for Oily Skin/Acne and more recently, MAC Care Blends Essential Oils in Grapefruit+Chamomile (featured in MAC’s Warm and Cozy Collection). Each remedy is a blend of essential oils mixed with a non-comedogenic carrier oil (Aveda’s uses jojoba oil, while MAC’s version utilizes “a blend of four, richly conditioning botanical oils”) that’s massaged into skin for instant relief. And yes it is indeed INSTANT. I’ve been using MAC’s version twice daily for a week now. When applied before bedtime, the oil penetrates skin so I wake up literally GLOWING-in a good way! During the day, a few drops applied under my foundation combats flakiness and rough patches, while the botanical elements calm and soothe redness. For those battling breakouts (due to excessive partying like I have), Aveda’s Balancing Infusions for Oily Skin/Acne works amazing as a spot treatment (dab on with a cotton swab) but use SPARINGLY if you plan on wearing foundation over it. If you’ve been making out with the Maker’s Mark, these products are for YOU.

Karlie showed me this really cool spot on 20th St and Camelback where you can make your own essential oil blends among many other things. They have essential oils, clays (to make your own masks), herbs, etc… I haven’t made it back to play around in there but when I do (probably next week) I will surely blog it :)

lol yes it is ok for non drinkers. I actually thought of you La because you said you have more of a dry skin type. You should try this. And because essential oils are PURE, they don’t clog the pores or collect on top of the skin like say, a mineral oil would. Same with the carrier oils like jojoba, grapeseed, etc. (VERY good for the skin) you just have to know your skin and know the ingredient.

Is this good to use even if you have oily skin like in your T-Zone areas?

Jem- Maker’s Mark is a Whiskey :) Grizelle- Yes, I’m oily all over and both of these products contain oils to actually combat oils. I know it sounds like an oxymoron, but because the oil (which is PURE) penetrates the skin, the essential oil ingredient (grapefruit, lavender, even tea tree) can help to eliminate excess oil. There aren’t any fillers or impurities in there to cause a breakout.

Niiiiice. I like this idea… so do you just rub some on like a moisturizer or with a cotton ball? Leave it on… wash it off?

I have dabbled in essential oils as well. Just add a drop or two to your moisturizer, mix in and apply to skin. Oily skin sometimes means your skin is actually dehydrated so it overproduces oil. These essential oils actually balance out the skin so it produces less oil :)

Grizelle- you can do what Shew said and add it to your moisturizer or add a tiny bit to fingertips and massage directly into skin. I love giving myself a mini facial massage and really focusing on congested areas like the nose and jawline. It helps skin to “purge” itself of impurities. Good stuff!
