Penny Pinchers Vs. MAC Carbon

MAC Carbon $14.50

A staple in ALL of our kits, I’m sure, MAC’s Carbon can be used as a shadow or liner, wet or dry. Enter 01 Black by NYX Cosmetics. I’ve posted on NYX before and I’m truly a fan of this company. Formerly sold at obscure, discounted beauty supply stores, you can now find NYX on the shelves at Ulta. 01 Black is ALMOST an exact replica of Carbon, although to get the best results as a liner, you MUST wet your brush first. Pigment payoff is the same in my opinion, but I find the NYX version much more blendable. Carbon wins for staying power, but if you’re in a pinch, NYX is more than sufficient.

I have both these eyeshadows as well & I agree the NYX black is easier to blend.. I find Carbon can be kind of hard to blend & somewhat splotchy at times BUT I love how black it is.. nothing can compare in that aspect imho.

When I bought my NYX black e/s I found it @ BBB Fashion [on 51st & Indian School] for .99 score :D lol. I went back recently & they still had shadows & jumbo pencils in stock which I couldn’t believe! Also just in case anyone here wears Red Cherry lashes that’s where I always buy mine… for only 1.59 a pair, cheapest place I’ve found.

Aggie have you seen their accessories? They even have a brush belt similar to MAC’s :)
