Maybelline Mirror Image

Maybelline Mirror Image base + polish

Currently available in the UK, people claim that this polish resembles Minx in silver lightning,

so I put it to the test…

While I personally don’t agree that any polish can pull off an exact replication of Minx nail wrappings, this is still pretty cool. Somehow the brush strokes disappear leaving a smooth uniform chrome finish on the nails. Below is a picture of Minx in silver lightning from MinxNails.com

You be the judge…

I did some research. It was at one point in time available here in the US but not anymore. Some have been lucky and spotted it at Dollar stores with other discontinued cosmetics. I had mine shipped from the UK.
If anyone spots it, let us know because I want more ;)

Girllll how do you find out about all these polishes and get your hands on em?!?!?!

I think there is a very small resemblance in that the Maybelline is silver, doesn’t quite have the reflectiveness that Minx gives. Looks good nonetheless.

The shiny effect that this polish has is difficult to capture on my camera. It actually looks more mirror-like in person. I wore this last night to Phoenix Fashion Week. I got several compliments and one girl even thought it was Minx, I immediately corrected her ;) I still strongly agree that it does not quite have that exact foil reflectiveness that Minx wrappings do, no polish does. This picture shows the reflectiveness of this polish a bit more.

One major downside: This has already started to wear off on the tips so it doesn’t last any longer than 2 days. I only used one coat of the base and one coat of the silver, no topcoat, so maybe that’s my fault.

Kymby I got this off Ebay for like $4 from the UK. I had heard about it before, but by the time I did it had already been discontinued.

Do a saved search on eBay. It will alert you when one is available. I believe this may be available in the UK too. Try China Glaze Millennium also. The effect is similar.
