Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Original and Eden, Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Each of these products carries the same purpose: to make your eyeshadow long-lasting and prevent creasing. What’s the difference and which will be best for you?

Urban Decay Primer Potion in Original and Eden, Too Faced Shadow Insurance
The original Urban Decay Primer Potion and Too Faced Shadow Insurance are both translucent.
Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden is not. Eden has a light yellow undertone and dries to a matte finish. It works well with my skintone. (MAC NC25-30)
The difference between Urban Decay Primer Potion and Too Faced Shadow Insurance? The Urban Decay is for oily skin. I find that the Urban Decay Primer Potion dries out my eyelid skin after a while. When that happens I opt for the Too Faced Shadow Insurance. The Too Faced one is better if you have dryer skin. It is more moisturizing and wont dry out your eyelid skin, yet it still does it’s job and prevents eyeshadow from creasing!
If you’re a MAC girl I recommend the paint pots. These are creamy and opaque yet they dry matte and can work as an eyeshadow base. Below are three matte skintone colors that I have on hand…

Soft Ochre, Painterly, and Quite Natural
Another good paint pot, Groundwork (not shown) is a mid-tone neutral taupe.
Any Questions?? Happy Shopping Ladies

I have the Primer Potion in Eden- I had to review it for M.I.S.S a little bit ago. I love it specifically because of my oily skin. And a little goes a LONG way. I’ve also used it to highlight the bridge of my nose (blended well so I don’t look like Lil Kim). I’ve always been curious about the Paint Pots and how they work as a concealer. SO much more learning to do! Shew you should run a SCHOOL. You’re the best
I’m liking the Eden too! I never thought of using it as a highlighter!
As far as paint pots as a concealer, I’ve never thought of using them for that either. I feel like it might be too thick or would dry out the skin under your eyes, (causing wrinkles) eeeep! Plus the color selection of paint pots are more-so colors for eyeshadow bases. Just because you brought it up I’m going to try soft ochre as a concealer and see how it works!
wow!!!! so glad u posted on this. i had this product in my hand….to buy at sephora….25 gift card from christmas….and i ended up walking out with nothing. Im talkin bout the urban decay primer potion….
rite now I think i use….some mac thingy in a tube. lol. paint? i duno.
I used to LOVE Urban Decay Primer Potion but since I bought a new one, my eyeshadow has been creasing. I don’t know if my lids have been super oily or if UDPP has changed their product or something but it doesn’t work anymore for me
maybe I just got a bad tube?
I have the original udpp and love it since i have oily skin and its the only thing that makes my eye makeup hold up. I should try too faced though just to give it a try. I also have a paintpot in painterly and rubenesque which helps look put to gether when im in a hurry.
Nikki – I’m not aware of the formula changing. Try the new one in Eden. It’s a bit thicker and has more of a matte finish. Just exchange the one you have for Eden at Sephora. They are really good about exchanges, even if you don’t have a receipt. If that still doesn’t work, travel on over to the MAC paint pots
La – oh the MAC paints. Yea they are kinda phasing those out and the paint pots are their replacement in solid form. I like the Urban Decay Primer Potion, especially if you have oily lids. If you are more on the dry side go for Too Faced Shadow Insurance. Since you have a gift card and all
Aggie – Stick with the UDPP if you are oily. Def try the new Eden though!
I currently use both UDPP & TFSI [not at the same time tho], but I’m always up to try a new eye primer so when you posted on UD Eden a while back I was excited for it to come out! Now I must call my nearest Ulta to see if thy have it in. I have a ? do you have a pic of what it looks like when it dries?
Marlo – Here they are dry:
I layed it on pretty thick to show the color though. Normally I would use less product and blend it in on my eyelids. If you don’t find it at Ulta, Sephora has it. Just call ahead to make sure
I’ll have to make a trip to Sephora and try Eden. Hopefully it works, thanks Shew!
