A long, LONG time ago, in a galaxy called MySpace, I stumbled across the page of some very interesting ladies. They weren’t models. They weren’t singers, rappers, or any other self-promoting tartlet who happened to have emerged at that time (Hi Tila!). They drank, smoked, wore trashy acrylic nails, and most notably, DRESSED. To KILL. Having been raised in Phoenix, I had never in my entire life seen a group of women who looked SO DAMN CUTE pulling on Parliament Lights. These were the girls who ultimately spawned modern day all female movements, INCLUDING The Fresh Fiends. Although I never really figured out what BB$ actually WAS (since they were FAR beyond any “party crew”), it didn’t matter. They were mysterious, alluring, and empowering; beautiful girls who could kick your fuckin ass. To the OG Brownbabies: Thank YOU

This movie made me want to dance professionally AND wear pedal pushers. My sister STILL to this day reminds me of a former crush who resembled “Johnny Castle”. He will be missed.

After many years of talking about it, and a thousand excuses later this weekend I finally set out to do something so many had encouraged me to do for SO LONG. (those people definitely know who they are). This weekend with the help of a long list of exceptional people I completed the Lady La Calendar shoot. A few radio personalities here and there partake in shooting calendars….but i’ve never been one of them until now. I’m not a professional model, stylist, or fashion guru. But aside from all that I decided I could face my fears, step into foreign territory and tackle something for a greater cause, my littlest brother. He’s autistic and when I think about ALL of the things he’s had to face in HIS lifetime, I could face some of my fears. This calendar will be on sale for 2010 some time shortly and all of the profits will be donated to an Autism Foundation to help every child who is struggling with this epidemic. Thanks for listening, I will keep you posted on when you will be able to purchase and support!
To MY FIENDS: Miss Summer & Shew …it just isn’t the same without you two by my side!
