Oh Honey

I’ve recently become obsessed with honey infused ANYTHING. In addition to overdosing on Toblerone chocolates, I’ve stocked up on a few of these goodies. I don’t know what it is about this bee barf that makes me swoon.

Beauty Faves: March

I’ve been going for the “natural look” lately and as we females know, the “natural look” actually does require some makeup to still have a polished, even look. Here are my favorite products to use for this…

MAC eyeshadow in Era $14.50

Era is a soft golden beige color with subtle shimmer in a satin finish. It’s great as an all over lid color for neutral and natural looks.

MAC fluidline in Blacktrack $15

I use this gel liner with the MAC 212 brush ($22.50) to tightline my upper lashline. Tightlining is when you push gel liner directly into the roots of your upper lashes from underneath (near the waterline). Filling in the gaps between lashes defines the eye and lashline without taking up any eyelid space.

MAC powder blush in Peaches $19.50

Peaches gives me a pop of color directly on the apples of my cheeks to keep me from looking washed out. It’s been my go-to blush for a couple of years now.

Eyecurl Heated Eyelash Curler $7

If you haven’t seen my review for this eyelash curler, view it HERE. The review coincidentally also features a closeup of me wearing the eye products in this post. (MAC Era and Blacktrack tightlined with the MAC 212)

MAC Cremestick Liner for Lips in Gingerroot $14.50

The exact color of my lips, gingerroot is my favorite for defining my lipline. Sometimes after applying foundation and powder, your lips end up looking non-existent. This fixes that issue for me immediately.

Fusion Beauty LipFusion lip plumping gloss in clear $36

I know it seems over-the-top expensive for a clear gloss, but I just love this lipgloss. I like the tingling feeling and I like that it moisturizes my lips and adds shine without being sticky. I’ve repurchased this quite a few times.

Fiendin For: February

Spring is right around the corner but I’m still lusting after a few fall finds. On my radar: Betsey Johnson’s “I Fucking Love You” chocolate box hats, MAC x Wonder Woman, and of course, more  Jonathan Adler. Supreme hit a home run with their quirky little spring accessories. Add a pair of Miu Miu clogs, some breath freshener, and a creepy clown cuff and voila! February faves!

Shew Review: Eyecurl Heated Eyelash Curler

Eyecurl II Heated Eyelash Curler $7

I’ll admit, I don’t use eyelash curlers. I own a Shu Uemura eyelash curler but I never use it. I’m not a fan of the crimps they can leave in lashes. Sometimes the shape ends up looking odd if you don’t do it just right. I’ve heard raves about the heated eyelash curlers in Asia, so I decided to try an inexpensive heated eyelash curler from Korean brand Eyecurl.

This type of heated eyelash curler wont leave a crimp in your lashes because it doesn’t use a clamp. You press the heated wand against the lashes. (as close as you can get to the base without burning your eye) Hold it for a few seconds, then press the tips down with the heated wand for a few seconds to curl the tips.

The Eyecurl II Heated Eyelash Curler takes one AA battery and it heats up quickly (in seconds). There is a color indicator at the tip of the wand that turns from red to white when fully heated. I followed the steps and was pretty happy with the results.

Shew Review: Boyfriend EDP

Boyfriend EDP $35-$65

The new fragrance, created by actress Kate Walsh, was inspired by the longing felt for her boyfriend’s warm scent. She inhales his shirt, taking in the scent of the man she loves. It lingers on her clothes, her sheets, her hair—all over. Imprinted on her body and in her mind, it radiates within her, filling her with feelings of warmth and desire.

Actress Kate Walsh wanted to capture the scent of a guy on a girl: a man’s cologne mixed with perfume, the smell that lingers on the skin. This fragrance evokes memories of that time after he has left for the day—when she gently awakes in a bed that’s still warmly redolent of “boyfriend.”

An alluring balance of vanilla, jasmine blossoms, and an accord of amber is set against the sensual scents of a man, including a light musk and a shimmer of fresh woods.

I tested this out today and while I love the bottle and the idea of this fragrance, I have to be honest, I wouldn’t wear it. I smell a lot of amber, woods, and musk and it’s just not for me. I asked the “boyfriend” just to be sure and he said it smelled like an old lady :/

If you like more mature or masculine scents definitely give Boyfriend a try.

As for me, the only girl I want to smell this on is Shane from the L Word. Know what I’m sayin’?

Boyfriend is available now in Sephora stores and on Sephora.com

Shew Review: Maybelline Volum Express One by One Mascara

Maybelline Volum Express One by One Mascara

Available at all drugstores for $6 – $7

Nice, full rubber brush to prevent clumps :)

Color is Blackest Black

One coat of Maybelline Volum Express One by One Mascara in Blackest Black.

One coat of Maybelline Volum Express One by One Mascara in Blackest Black.

I like that it has a rubber brush to prevent clumps, this is very important to me. I hate clumpy mascara that gives me “spider leg” lashes. I feel like it gives decent length, great separation, and just enough volume. It’s dramatic enough for an evening look yet not too dramatic for every day wear. It wears well, no smudging or flaking. This just might be my new drugstore fave. Maybelline Full n Soft is the only other drugstore mascara that I really like. If you like Full n Soft, I think you will like this.

Treat Yourself

Forget the typical flowers and jewelry and treat yourself to what you REALLY want this Valentines Day. Here are some suggestions…

LUSH Valentine’s Day Limited Edition Bath Products

Frog Prince Bath Bomb – This new fragrance is an aphrodisiac blend with sweet undertones. Jasmine, neroli and rosewood create a sensual fragrance. It’s also brimming with cocoa butter and almond oil for a luxuriously moisturizing soak.

Ex-Factor Bath Bomb – Bath Bomb voodoo for wronged lovers and those who just dislike the mushiness of Valentine’s Day. As his or her limbs fizzle, the electric blue water and creamy vanilla scent will take you away.

Magic Mushroom Bubble Bar – Mounds of strawberries and cream bubbles in your tub is all the sweetness you need for a heavenly bath experience.

Sprinkles Limited Edition Cupcakes

Raspberry Chocolate Chip Cupcake – NEW chocolate chip-studded Belgian dark chocolate cake topped with luscious raspberry frosting and adorned with a perky pink heart.

Red HOT Velvet Cupcake – A classic red velvet cake paired with spicy cinnamon cream cheese frosting.

Ferrero Rocher Hazelnut Chocolates – Assorted boxes of chocolates make you search for the good ones and let’s be real, half of them are gross and end up left in the box after a bite.

THESE are made by the same makers of NUTELLA. Need I say more?

From the MAC Wonder Woman Collection (In stores Feb 10)

Remind yourself how SUPER you are every time you pull these out of your handbag.

Wonder Woman Makeup Bag (RED) $30

Wonder Woman Lipglass (RED) $20

Who knows you better than YOU? Go Ahead.. Treat Yourself ;)

Beauty Faves: February

MAC 109 Brush $32

I love this brush for stippling on and buffing foundation into skin for an airbrushed finish.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation in Sand and Tawny $34

Still my favorite foundation when I need good coverage. Especially when unexpected cold fronts make my dermatitis flare up :(

T. LeClerc loose powder in Banane $50

This ultra-fine french finishing powder has been a favorite of makeup artists and models for years. The yellow tone brightens light skin tones, combats redness, and masks undereye circles. It gives an even porcelain finish when pressed into skin with a puff. I re-upped in the Philippines where it’s available for only $30

Beiges de CHANEL eyeshadow quadra

Still my absolute favorite CHANEL eyeshadow quad ever made. I always reach for it when I’m in a rut and in need of a fail proof look.

Koh Gen Do Cleansing Water Cloths $35

Meant as a makeup remover wipe, my skin is too sensitive for these but they work wonders for cleaning my makeup brushes! A few swipes and my brushes are completely free of makeup and residue. No harsh chemicals like some brush cleansers and makeup wipes have.

Maybelline Volum Express One by One Mascara $7

Maybelline’s newest Volum Express mascara. I still love the Urban Decay Supercurl mascara but for $6-7 this stuff is pretty awesome too. (Full review coming soon)

MAC Fluidline in Blitz and Glitz $15

Blitz and Glitz is the deepest darkest brown with a bit of sparkle. All I need is a wash of shadow and this winged out with my 208 brush and I’m good to go :)

Reb’l Fleur EDP by Rihanna $59

SEX in a bottle. Need I say more?
