Shew Review: Ecotools Bronzer Brush

Ecotools Bronzer Brush – $9.99

  • Highly sustainable bamboo handle
  • 100% cruelty-free, soft taklon bristles
  • Recycled aluminum ferrule
  • Reusable storage pouch

This review is for the Ecotools Bronzer Brush. In my opinion, it’s the star of the collection. This brush is dense and soft and so importantly,  does not shed. I used this brush to buff on my liquid foundation and my makeup looked airbrushed! I also tried it to buff on some mineral foundation, fantastic! Oh wait, it’s a bronzer brush, so of course I tried it as that too and it applied my NARS Laguna bronzer very nicely and evenly giving me a perfect glow. This brush is flat out amazing and sooo worth the $9.99  For that price, I want two! One for my foundation, and the other for bronzer. If you aren’t convinced, you should know that Sephora charges $26-$35 for basically the same brush. Get your Ecotools Bronzer Brush for only $9.99 at your local Target.

Shew Review: Ecotools 6-Piece Eye Brush Set

Ecotools 6-Piece Eye Brush Set – $7.99

  • Highly sustainable bamboo handles
  • 100% cruelty-free, soft taklon bristles
  • Recycled aluminum ferrules
  • Natural cotton and hemp cosmetic bag
  • Reusable storage pouch

This review is on the Ecotools 6-piece eye brush set. I actually found the quality of these brushes was exceptionally good for their price. The bristles were soft and they picked up eyeshadow well. They blended very well too. I know a lot of you have had good experiences with Ecotools, and I was honestly really surprised at how well these worked so thank you all for sharing your thoughts with me in my previous post. FOODIE Fiend: Fattoush

So on my last post Miss Summer referred Fattoush to me to try some falafel and mediterranean cuisine rite here in phoenix…and I’ve gone twice since that day. First off, its in a mini strip mall called Aziz and is on the the southwest side of Campbell and 19th ave. It’s family owned and operated and kind of a hole in the wall, if spots as “authentic” as these make you weary it’s probably not your first choice. The service is good, every order comes with a compimentary lentil soup or salad. So far I’ve had chicken shawirma and the falafel plate. The food is good, the price is right and as far as I’m concerned Fattoush is a solid spot for some different eats! FULL MENU HERE

It’s Official. I’m a LUSH

LUSH Up You Gets Emotibomb $3.95

“If work forces you to wake up at uncivilized hours and you’re stumbling to the basin with your eyes closed, Up you Gets is exactly what you need. Lime, grapefruit and lemon slap your brain awake and uplift your spirits to make mornings more bearable (dare we say – enjoyable!?). Toss one of these into the shower and before you know it, your eyes will open wide and you’ll be showing up to work feeling bright and cheerful.”

I tried the Up you Gets emotibomb last week and while I enjoyed it for the few minutes that it lasted, I probably wont repurchase. I liked the refreshing citrus scent and it almost reminded me of a big toner tab for your body. I just wish it would’ve lasted longer because I take long showers.

The Comforter Bubble Bar $8.75

“This pink and white swirly bar resembles a rolled up scarf, ready to wrap you in warmth and comfort. The fruity blackcurrant fragrance comes from cassis absolute. Inhale it and it feels like you’re getting a big, yummy hug. This one is big enough to be broken in half for two baths.”

Islanders, Doesn’t the stock photo look like the fish cake you get in saimin soup?

I took some photos myself to give you a better idea of what this is and what it does.

As you can see, it’s really big. It’s big enough to last two baths so you can break it in half (it’s soft).

I crumbled half of my Comforter Bubble Bar under my running bath water and it filled my bathtub with bubbles and a rich sweet scent.

I shoved some bubbles to the side so you can see the pink color it gives to the water. When I got in, I immediately felt the creaminess of the bathwater. It was very moisturizing and my skin felt silky and smooth. The bubbles and the scent lasted throughout my entire bath, I didn’t want to get out. I have nothing negative to say about this product. I would repurchase this and I will be trying other bubble bars. If you are a bath person you NEED some LUSH in your life!

Shew Review: Living Proof Full Thickening Cream

Living Proof – Full Thickening Cream $14 – $24 at Sephora

“This styling innovation allows fine, thin hair to act like thick hair with naturally soft, touchable body. By depositing thickening points on the hair strands, Full creates a thicker surface that enables fine hair to have natural movement and bounce, beautiful shape, and volume throughout the day.”

The ad for Living Proof Full Thickening Cream would make you believe that this product will give you an incredible boost in thickness AND volume…

I’ve had this product for a couple weeks now and have used it a few times. Each time I told myself I’ll give it another chance. If third time isn’t the charm you go back to the store.

Pros: It does make my hair feel a bit thicker and leaves my hair feeling soft, not brittle, as promised.

Cons: I do not notice any added volume. Once I am done styling my hair, it pretty much looks the same as it always does. I was expecting a noticeable difference in long-lasting volume and this product did not deliver for me.

Me over the weekend with Oscar and Summer: My third time trying Living Proof Full Thickening Cream.

As you can see, my hair doesn’t look like the ad. Maybe girls with super fine hair will notice a bigger difference in thickness and volume. I unfortunately did not.

As I returned to the website to see what I may be doing wrong I dug further and read: “Full is a thickening product; it is not a root lifter, and it will not give you hold. Mix Full with your favorite root lift product or holding product if that’s the look you want.” Sooo I need to mix this with other products to give me the look you have in your ad? Ahhh ok  :|

Lesson here: Read the fine print. Ads are deceiving.

Shew Review: LUSH Each Peach

My ninth LUSH review is on the Each Peach Massage Bar.

“Massages are enjoyable for numerous reasons; they help us relax, they soothe sore muscles, and sometimes (like when you use an Each Peach) they moisturize your skin and uplift your spirits. Because this bar is packed with cocoa, shea, avocado and mango butters, it’s a fantastic moisturizer. Plus, we add sweet orange oil, lime and grapefruit oils to refresh and wake you up. Perfect for a fruity, uplifting massage.”

Pros: I gave my husband a massage with this bar. It melts into a buttery cream on contact with skin. I rubbed it on his back a bit to melt off some cream and then just massaged the cream into his back. He said it was very relaxing and the cream was very moisturizing. No greasy feeling, cream absorbed well after a nice long massage. Smells like Lemon PEZ!!
Cons: I had him use it on me the next night. Unfortunately my sensitive skin is allergic to something in it. I got itchy with red splotches. Had to jump in the shower and wash it off. This happened to me with a massage oil from Fascinations once.  This shouldn’t turn you off from trying it unless you have super sensitive skin like mine.

Each Peach (And Two’s a Pair) Massage Bar retails for $8.75 for a 2.2oz. bar.

Shew Review: LUSH Lemony Flutter

My eighth LUSH review is on the Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter.

“Inside is a thick, nourishing butter that moisturizes the hardest areas – elbows, heels, cuticles and nails. You just need a tiny dab (one pot lasts us months) of this rich lemon cream. Rub the Shea butter, cold pressed avocado oil and mango butters in to moisturize and nourish skin. Massage a bit in daily and you won’t have to deal with hangnails and cracked skin any longer!”

Pros: This has a lemony scent that I really like. I rubbed this into my cuticles, then on my hands and put on my moisturizing gloves. My hands looked and felt great the next morning. A little goes a long way.  I’m going to start using this on my feet/heels before bedtime with socks. For me this replaces  the hand and foot creams from the kit. I will repurchase this product.
Cons: Thick and a bit greasy, but not a problem if used in pm only.

Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter retails for $13.25 for a 1.5oz tub
