LUSH Golden Wonder Bath Bomb

LUSH Golden Wonder Bath Bomb

“Just like any good present under the tree, Golden Wonder rattles when you shake it! Are you wondering what’s inside? Pop our big, fizzing, multi-layer invention into the tub and the first thing you’ll notice is the sweet orange, lime and cognac oils as they unfold for a seasonal celebration. Then, as this golden gift slowly dissolves, watch the water magically change colour before your eyes. What else could be inside? You’ll just have to try one to find out!”

or you can just read on…

Golden Wonder smells like sweet orange, lime and champagne. It sparkles with gold glitter, and is shaped like a wrapped gift. To unravel, simply drop Golden Wonder into your warm bath.

The white crust dissolves first, and quickly unveils a bright BLUE inner layer. Large shapes, the colors of orange, yellow and pink pop out and fizz as well.

The water shines with gold glitter and then Golden Wonder saves the best for last. I wasn’t expecting such a sight so unfortunately I did not have my good camera on hand to capture it. Blurry cellphone pics don’t do this bath bomb’s work justice. I will say this.. it is very “Starry Night”.

I thoroughly enjoyed this bath bomb and wish I had another already. LUSH gift card for Christmas please! LUSH Golden Wonder bath bomb is available at LUSH stores and lushusa.com for $6.95

Shew Review: Philip Kingsley Pure Silver Shampoo and Conditioner

Philip Kingsley Pure Silver Shampoo and Conditioner

I got highlights in my hair recently. Since I have dark, previously colored hair, I have a high risk of my highlights turning brassy. You know… that orange tint that comes out after you bleach your hair. With every wash, color fades, increasing the chance that those brassy tones will come out. My hair dresser recommended that I use a violet tinted shampoo and conditioner that will deposit color and tone my hair with every wash, preventing brassiness altogether. Genius right? I’ve been using one from Sally Beauty called Shimmer Lights, but it has been leaving my hair pretty dry and tangled after washing. It has been difficult to brush my hair, probably causing breakage.

I got word of a similar product by Philip Kingsley called Pure Silver. The line is formulated specifically for grey or bleached blonde hair. Designed with violet hues and optical brighteners, Pure Silver shampoo and conditioner gently cleanses and conditions while adding shine to dull, discolored and brassy hair. The shampoo smells nice and light, and lathers well. The bottle directs you to knead into your scalp with the shampoo. My hair felt almost squeaky clean afterward. The conditioner has a stronger scent. It really moisturized well and got rid of any tangles caused by the shampooing. Once I rinsed and let my hair air dry, I could feel the difference in the softness of my hair. It feels clarified and replenished. If you have grey, bleached blonde or highlighted hair, I would recommend this shampoo and conditioner to you.

Right now Philip Kingsley is running a special for their ‘Try Me Duos’ including a Pure Silver Conditioner kit in either mini or full size. Buy One Get One Free means major savings, and there’s something there for all hair types!

Philip Kingsley shampoo for Flaky Itchy Scalps is currently Buy 1 Get 1 FREE

Philip Kingsley Remoisturizing line is Buy 1 Shampoo Get 1 Conditioner FREE

Shew Review: LUSH Celebrate Lip Tint

LUSH Celebrate Lip Tint – For pastel pink lips with a hint of gold luster and the taste of champagne.

One of the best parts about the holidays is celebrating at parties. This gorgeous lip tint is inspired by one of our perfumer’s special wedding day cocktails: pink champagne with gold leaf, popping candy bubbles. It seemed to inventor Helen like the perfect flavour for a festive lip tint. She used cognac, lemon, and grapefruit oils and icing sugar to give this pastel pink tint the taste of champagne, then sprinkled in golden luster to make it extra festive. Make sure you have this on New Years Eve when the clock strikes twelve!

The only other lip tint I have tried from LUSH was Snow Fairy. Celebrate has a much better texture and color payoff. It smells like pink champagne and I love the touch of gold sparkle on the top. The almond oil softens and moisturizes lips. The color itself is a pale pink with a metallic sheen. It reminds me of a discontinued MAC lipstick called b cup. It is a tad too pale for my currently tan skin, washing me out just a bit. But I think come the Holidays, when my tan starts to fade, this will be perfect.

LUSH Halloween

LUSH Ghost shower gel and (The Great) Pumpkin soap – Halloween 2011

Ghost Shower Gel

It first made an apparition in 2007 and now it’s back to haunt us. Ghost is a translucent, white shower gel, made with rose and dove orchid infusions and scented with a beautifully calming floral perfume. Pure, white, lovely and only around for a moment, take a photograph of your Ghost or no-one will believe it really existed. All that will be left is soft skin and the fragrance of lilies. Soothes goosebumps and calms hair that stands on end. Ghost is limited edition and will only be lingering here at LUSH for a short time.

I really like Ghost shower gel. It is a powdery, soft floral that smells so gentle and feminine. The gel is an eerie translucent, white. It lathers well on the body. I haven’t had a chance to use it in my hair yet, because I am using a special shampoo for my new highlights. Maybe the scent lingers in the hair, but I didn’t feel like I could still smell ghost on me after my shower. I ended up applying my LUSH Lust solid perfume after my shower, so I could get my floral on anyway.

(The Great) Pumpkin Soap

Carve some time out of your Halloween festivities to wash up with our spicy hand and body soap. Clove, cardamom, spearmint and fresh pumpkin will warm up you up after a long night of trick-or-treating. Cinnamon leaf oil warms you up and helps you fight fatigue as the days get colder and shorter. Just like real Jack-o-Lanterns, this limited-edition pumpkin is only available for a short time.

Pumpkin soap is spicyyy. I definitely smell the cloves and cardamom, more so than the spearmint and fresh pumpkin. I also smell the cinnamon leaf oil. The scent is very warm and spicy. It lathers easily, and although I’ve only had the chance to use this on my hands, I think it will make a nice body soap too. It just looks so cute next to the sink! This has sold out online already, so check your local LUSH store if you want to pick this guy up.

Bottom line: Both ghost shower gel and pumpkin soap will make great Halloween treats for yourself or others.

Shew Review: Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Foundation

Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Foundation SPF 10

Stay flawless for 15 hours with this photo shoot secret to picture perfect skin. This ultra long wearing formula with UVA/UVB SPF 10 blurs imperfections usig light diffusing spheres and delivers natural-looking , buildable medium-to-full coverage while keeping skin hydrated and shine free all day. Sweat and humidity resistant. Transfer-proof and oil free.

L-R  [1.2 , 2.1 and 3.2]

Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Foundation comes in 12 shades ranging from porcelain fair (1.1)  to deep warm brown (4.2)

L-R  [1.2 , 2.1 and 3.2]

I have combo skin that gets very dry when the weather cools down, so I love that this foundation is hydrating. Oily gals should not be turned off by this hydrating foundation. It has a satin-matte finish that really does last all day. I did not have to blot once! I love the coverage and the finish. It does not look masky at all, it looks like natural skin. Definitely exfoliate prior to application, it seems like it could have the tendency to accentuate dry patches. I use a Clarisonic mia so my skin is free of flakes before application. The color range is pretty impressive for Smashbox and the wear was great. I am very impressed by this foundation. I haven’t had any breakouts from this, but if I do I will update.

Smashbox Studio Skin Foundation retails for $42, and is sold in Sephora, on Sephora.com and everywhere else Smashbox is sold.

Scottsdale, AZ 85260

If you are new to JK Jemma Kidd, check out her Fall 2011 Collection, now available at Target stores.

i-design eye color – Designer fashion, designer style, designer eyes. Blendable and crease resistant pro formula in make-up artist essential hues.

hi-design eye color - Make a statement with catwalk colour. Ultra pigmented, custom designed shadows loaded with colour give a long-lasting, crease resistant finish.

I LOVE the lucite packaging for these eye shadows. It feels very high-end and is a bit reminiscent of Shu Uemura.

i-design eye colour in silhouette, scene and luxe

The eyeshadows apply smooth and silky, no chalkiness at all. Silhouette would make a good brow highlight, scene is a nice all-over lid color, and I’m a sucker for taupe shades, so luxe is naturally a favorite of mine.

hi-design eye color in stylised, sashay and trend

These colors are nicely pigmented, better quality than you would expect from a drugstore line. Stylised is a gorgeous, smoky olive. Sashay is really pretty, but a bit cool for my skintone. Trend is a blue that borders on the line of being both smoky and jewel-tone at the same time.

red carpet lip/cheek tint & gloss – Ultra-natural lip and cheek tint with innovative roller-ball applicator and hi-shine, hydrating gloss; perfect for creating that fresh-faced, red carpet look in a flash.

Both have a hi-shine clear gloss that can be applied after staining the lips.

red carpet lip/cheek tint & gloss in glam up

red carpet lip/cheek tint & gloss in dress up

L-R:  glam up and dress up

i-sculpt shadow and liner - Line, define and sculpt eyes for instant hi-glamour with this professional shadow and liner. Slanted liner for precision use and hi-payoff, conditioning cream shadow; sculpt your way to stand-out party eyes in an instant.

Creamy, loose shadow on one end…

with a soft applicator to apply.

Close-up of the slanted eyeliner – I was a bit worried about the shape at first, but it applied sharp and fine.

i-sculpt shadow and liner in mary q

i-sculpt shadow and liner in carnaby st

i-sculpt shadow and liner in kings rd

Mary q will make for a gorgeous smoky eye, carnaby st is a bit matchy but the liner is amazing, and kings rd will be great for making green eyes pop. Overall I am very impressed with JK for Jemma Kidd Fall 2011. I am looking forward to seeing more from this line, and I hope this post will have you taking a second look when you pass the makeup aisle in Target. If you are in the Phoenix area, what better time to check out the line than next weekend!
