China Glaze Awakening Collection – Halloween 2010
“Sink your claws into these three ghoulish glitters from China Glaze, perfect for a night of fright! Uniquely alluring and unlike any other Halloween colors before them, this collection is sure to entice.”
These are so unique and amazing. They are getting me super excited for Halloween.
I’ll just let the photos speak for themselves…

Mummy May I: Vampy, wine colored purple with flecks of hot pink glitter

Zombie Zest: A mossy green shade with gold flecks of micro glitter

ICK-A-BOD-Y: A dark green base chock full of orange glitter

As you may know, FF has the slightest obsession with nail lacquer. There’s not a color or brand that goes uncharted by our lovely Shew. During my latest excursion to Ikea, I was introduced to the Helmer Drawer Unit on casters. Each drawer (which includes slots for labels, by the way), is deep and wide enough for several rows of your favorite polishes. For $49.99, I think it’s a great value *it’s made of powder coated steel, which will last you a LONG time. The one I saw on display was red, but the Helmer also comes in Silver and White. I’m sold!

1. One coat Chanel Black Satin (Europe version) or any deep black creme of your choice
2. One coat Lippmann Happy Birthday or any rainbow confetti polish of your choice
3. One coat Seche Vite dry fast top coat

*sorry about the growth gaps, mani was already a couple days old when photo was taken

Someone FINALLY smartened up on this metallic nail craze;
That metallic finish that ONLY Minx could create… UNTIL NOW.
Dashing Diva is now offering full cover sets of nails in several metallic finishes.
Each ready-to-apply set will cost you only $8!
Obviously these are press-on tips so they would be for special occasion only, lasting up to 2-days.
Don’t expect them to last a week, even real metallic Minx don’t do that.
Ps. Hate to break it to you guys, but those DIY Minx wrappings from Sephora are NOT the biz.
Don’t waste your time or money. Go with these instead.

Essie Resort Collection for Summer 2010

Lapis of Luxury
Lapis of Luxury is a beautiful periwinkle hue. I love it as a manicure color and bet it will look adorable on toes as well. Above photo shows two coats.

Splash of Grenadine
Splash of Grenadine is an interesting name for this polish because when I think of Grenadine I think of a brighter pink/red color. This is more of a purple-pink creme. It’s a pretty, soft feminine color.
Above photo shows two coats.

Playa Del Platinum
Playa Del Platinum is an odd color on me. It reminds me of a corpse.
Some people might like that effect… *cough* Miss.Summer *cough*
Above photo shows three coats.

Turquoise & Caicos
Turquoise & Caicos, my absolute favorite of the bunch. Turquoise is the IT color for Summer and I’m pretty sure this color will be making an appearance on my toes often. Above photo shows two coats.
I’m going to be spending my 4th of July weekend at the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas and I’m thinking of doing a Lapis of Luxury manicure with a Turquoise & Caicos pedi! What do you guys think?

CND Shellac in “Hot Chilis”
The first hybrid nail polish: promises 14 days of wear, zero dry time, and a mirror-like finish.
That’s a LOT of promise for a nail polish, so you know I had to put it to the test.
The above photo shows my nails on Day One of my CND Shellac manicure. My manicurist, Leah from Salon Sanctuary, applied a base coat, 2 coats of polish, and a top coat. Between each coat, I placed my hands under a UV light for a couple of minutes. Last step after the top coat UV session, a sticky film was removed with alcohol and immediately my nails were DRY to the Touch. The polish looked wet and had that mirror-like finish. My nails felt flexible yet sturdy. Flat out AMAZING.
But let’s see how it lasts…

A FULL week later (7 days):
Zero chips or scratches, polish still looks wet. I have visible nail growth but my nails grow fast.
So far so Great ![]()

A FULL Two weeks later (14 days):
Now I really have visible nail growth, but again my nails grow pretty fast. The polish STILL has zero chips or scratches, and it still looks wet and has that mirror-like finish. I am very impressed by this product. This is for all the women out there who don’t want to pay $30 for a manicure just to have it chip days later. This is a guaranteed Two Whole Weeks of perfect polish wear! If it lasts two weeks on fingernails can you imagine the wear on the toes? I need a CND Shellac pedicure STAT! The other great thing about this is that there is no drilling like with gels and acrylics. This applies just like polish and does not damage your nails. The Shellac removes in less than 10 minutes with acetone wraps, no soaking or drilling!
The ONLY downsides to this product is that it is not available in many locations just yet since it is so brand new, and there are not many color selections. There are several pinks/reds, a few neutrals, one vamp shade called Fedora, and one white shade called Cream Puff. (hello Summer pedi!)
If you’re in the Arrowhead area give Leah a call and schedule your very own CND Shellac manicure.
