Shew Review: LUSH Silky Underwear Dusting Powder

LUSH Silky Underwear dusting powder $11.95

Let me introduce you to my newest obsession. Perfect for the upcoming warmer months, dusting powder contains kaolin clay which absorbs any excess moisture and leaves skin silky and smooth. This dusting powder also has tiny bits of cocoa butter that melt onto the skin on contact to moisturize. I love applying this on underarms and on my neck and chest. It makes you feel fresh and clean all day. It also makes a GREAT dry shampoo for next day hair. And duh, it’s called silky underwear so of course you should sprinkle it in your chonies and pat along your bra-line. On those hot, humid days, you will be happy you did. It absorbs any moisture and odor that might occur.

I pretty much love it for everything. It makes me feel and smell really sexy. The Jasmine Absolue gives it a nice light and airy, yet sensual fragrance. I notice my hubby lingers closely when we cuddle at night and I’m wearing this. The can holds a lot of product, it will seriously last me forever. One tip I have is that once you initially open the seal on the container, you don’t have to twist open the top every time you apply. Shake it with the top closed and just the right amount comes out.

This is definitely my favorite purchase as of late. Run into LUSH and get this ASAP ladies :)

Is it the Change in the Weather?

I always seem to feel ill when a change in the weather takes place. One of the best things about telling your friends you’re not feeling well is when they share their favorite remedies.

When I told Miss.Summer I had a sore throat and cough, she recommended I drink some black tea with honey, lemon, and garlic. I had these items in my kitchen already so not only was it convenient, but it really works!

Tazo Green Ginger tea solves stomach issues so you can put down the pepto.

Sometimes difficult to find, a box of 20 bags is on sale at Target NOW for under $3.

With the risk of making this post sound super Eastern, claiming that all sickness can be healed with tea, I want to open up the comments section to readers to share their favorite cold/illness remedies.

GO!!

ease your tummy with Ting Ting

One of my favorite candies of all time is Ting Ting Jahe. A ginger chew made in Indonesia, the candy is a perfect blend of sweet and spice. Ginger’s properties help to calm stomach ailments such as nausea and even motion sickness. Place two candies into a cup of boiling water and stir until completely dissolved. The relief is surprisingly quick and if you’re not a fan of the taste of ginger, the hot water and sugar tones it down a bit. Ting Ting Jahe is available at most asian specialty stores and through Amazon.

Body Worlds

“BODY WORLDS & The Brain is now at Arizona Science Center for a limited time. Gunther von Hagens’ world-famous exhibition looks at the body in a previously unseen way! With over 200 authentic human specimens, and highlights on recent neuroscience findings on brain development, function and disease, it will excite even those guests who visited when we hosted BODY WORLDS 3 in 2007.”

I attended Body Worlds 3 when it first came here to Arizona in 2007, and it was an unforgettable experience. These are real human bodies, preserved through Plastination. You see EVERYTHING: skin, muscle, bone, blood vessels, etc…  I highly recommend you check it out while you can. It is a bit controversial, but all of the bodies were donated to the exhibition and it is in the name of science, which makes it less creepy yes? Obviously if you are sensitive about seeing authentic animal and human bodies (including babies and children) Do NOT Attend.

Get more info and purchase tickets HERE

Not in Arizona? Visit the Body Worlds site to see if the exhibition will be coming to a city near you.

New Year, New You: Smile

Supersmile Professional Whitening Toothpaste Set $25

Coffee, tea, and wine can leave your teeth looking dingy after the Holidays. Tired of buying supposed whitening toothpastes that don’t really work? So was I, until I started using the whitening toothpaste by Supersmile. I’ve been using this set of toothpastes for a couple of weeks now and this stuff really works! All of the flavors taste pretty good, but my favorite of the five is Mandarin Mint :)

Supersmile whitening toothpaste with fluoride is proven to brighten teeth 273% more effectively than the leading national brand. Jennifer Lopez and Kelly Ripa rave about it so it sounded worth a try. I noticed a difference in the first week, plus this toothpaste whitened areas that my Crest Whitestrips failed to reach! I will definitely repurchase Supersmile professional whitening toothpaste once I finish this set. Supersmile Professional Whitening Toothpaste is available for purchase at Dillards, ULTA, and Supersmile.com

December was a month of giving. Treat YOURSELF in January and stay tuned for more

New Year, New You recommendations.

Movember Madness

With October being the month we raise awareness for our boobies, November is the time to celebrate MOVEMBER: The Mo, slang for moustache, and November come together each year for Movember. Movember challenges men to change their appearance and the face of men’s health by growing a moustache. The rules are simple, start Movember 1st clean-shaven and then grow a moustache for the entire month. The moustache becomes the ribbon for men’s health, the means by which awareness and funds are raised for cancers that affect men. Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, the men of Movember commit to growing a moustache for 30 days. FF has a little something in the works to show you how WE celebrated this men’s awareness month ;) To find out how YOU can help with the cause, visit Movember’s website HERE.

oil pulling: beneficial, bizarre, or both?

On a recent trip to visit my dad, he told me of a strange phenomenon called oil pulling. Promising to banish headaches, tooth pain, skin disorders, and even insomnia, I thought he was just going on one of his usual hippie-dippie, Angeleno rants. Oil Pulling consists of swishing cold-pressed oil (sesame oil seems to be a favorite our very own Miss Shew) in the mouth to draw out impurities. According to oil pulling’s official website: In the morning before breakfast on an empty stomach, take one tablespoon in the mouth but do not swallow it. Move oil slowly in the mouth as rinsing or swishing and sip, suck, and pull through the teeth for fifteen to twenty minutes. This process makes oil thoroughly mixed with saliva. Swishing activates the enzymes and the enzymes draw toxins out of the blood. The oil must not be swallowed, for it has become toxic. As the process continues, the oil gets thinner and white. If the oil is still yellow, it has not been pulled long enough. It is then spit from the mouth. The oral cavity must be thoroughly rinsed and mouth must be washed thoroughly. Just use normal tap water and good old fingers to clean. *Shew recommends rinsing with salt water and a dash of baking soda, since the taste of the oil can be nauseating. Clean the sink properly. Use antibacterial soap to clean the sink since the spittle contains harmful bacteria and toxic bodily waste. If one were to see one drop of this liquid magnified 600 times under a microscope, one would see microbes in their first stage of development. It is important to understand that during the oilpulling / oilswishing process one’s metabolism is intensified. This leads to improved health. One of the most striking results of this process is the fastening of loose teeth, the elimination of bleeding gums and the visible whitening of the teeth. The oil pulling /swishing is done best before breakfast. To accelerate the healing process, it can be repeated three times a day, but always before meals on an empty stomach. So will YOU try oil pulling? Until then, enjoy a little info on oil pulling Bollywood style… thanks Shewsie ;)
