All Cherry Chocolate Everything

I added highlights to my hair this summer, and they looked great with my tanned skin. (Shout out to Tina Figueroa at Salon TRU) However, the recent lack of swimming and being out in the sun has equaled a lack of pigmentation in my skin. I tend to go a bit darker in my hair and polish choices during fall and winter, while my skin tends to do just the opposite. I think it balances out well.

I have to admit though, choosing the cherry chocolate shade has a lot to do with seeing the newest Twilight: Breaking Dawn pt.1. While the other girls in the theater were probably envious of Bella’s love life, I was more envious of her cherry chocolate locks.

I put Feria Chocolate Cherry box color on over the crown area of my hair and covered my highlights. The cherry color is more prominent where my highlights were, which was the look I was going for. I am also currently obsessed with MAC spiced chocolate eyeshadow quad and Essie Masquerade Belle, both cherry chocolate in color.

Have YOU ever changed your appearance based on a look you liked in a film?

H&M Dragon Tattoo Collection

This Christmas, one of the most awaited films will premiere “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” at cinemas around the world (from the Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy, directed by David Fincher).

Trish Summerville, the costume designer for this film, has made an H&M Dragon Tattoo Collection – a women’s collection with attitude. It’s dark, urban feeling with leather jackets and torn jeans, and is inspired by the film’s anti-heroine, Lisbeth Salander. Trish Summerville is one the top costume designers in Hollywood, designing for both movies, celebrities, and artists.

The H&M Dragon Tattoo Collection debuts worldwide on December 14 in H&M / Divided departments, as well as online.

Nail of the Day

Inspired by my excitement to see Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides tonight, I painted my nails an aqua creme and applied a few gold sequins on an accent nail. Gold sequins remind me of coins or treasure… or scales. This is what I imagine a mermaid’s manicure might look like.

China Glaze Custom Kicks and Gold Sequins from Hobby Lobby $1.99

Urban Decay has partnered with Universal to promote ‘Bridesmaids’ a comedy starring Saturday Night Live’s Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph, to create a gorgeously packaged, gift-ready box holding some of their best-selling beautifiers. The kit just happens to contain some of my absolute favorites from Urban Decay, many of which you have seen me rave about here on The Fiends. Peep the promo for ‘Bridesmaids’ and then read on for more photos of this awesome set.

Red Riding Hood

I attended the press screening for Red Riding Hood on Monday with my mini Shew, and while I was skeptical, I actually enjoyed it. It’s one of those films that keeps you guessing up until the revealing moment. From the same director as Twilight, you Twilighters will appreciate the visuals.

In the film, Amanda Seyfried wears this amazing red hooded cape. Replicas are available only until March 12th exclusively on SeenOn.com for $599

OPI Pirates of the Caribbean Collection

OPI for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides – May 2011

“OPI captures the bright colors and breathtaking escapades seen in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides with six limited-edition Nail Lacquers and a new Silver ShatterDisney’s highly-anticipated fourth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise is directed by Rob Marshall and features an all-star cast, including Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz. To celebrate the new film, OPI launches its Spring 2011 BRIGHTS Collection, which features a groundbreaking new color addition in the Shatter coat formula– Silver.”

I wouldn’t have expected a collection of pastel colors for a Pirates collection.

In fact, I don’t think Jack Sparrow would rock any of these colors.

Regardless, Mermaid’s Tears and Skull & Glossbones will probably end up a part of my collection.

As well as the new Silver Shatter polish that will also be included in this release.

OPI Silver Shatter

This limited-edition Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides collection will be available beginning May 2011 at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, JCPenney, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for  $8.50 each.

Spotted: Zoya Bela in ‘Black Swan’

Zoya Bela

A sheer, dreamy, peach-splashed light pink in a milky creme base.

Funny how life works out sometimes…

Growing up in the Soviet Union, a little girl named Zoya dreamed of being a ballerina and dancing to Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake. Now, many years later, after a life immersed in music as a classical pianist and becoming a star in the world of cosmetics, dreams have come true.

Enter the recent theatrical release of Black Swan. Early on in the film as the lead dancer, Nina (portrayed by Natalie Portman), prepares in her dressing room for a gala where she will be revealed to the masses as the new Swan Queen, a solitary elegant bottle of  nail polish briefly takes over the screen. This is where the line between a little girls fantasy and reality blissfully blurs. The bottle shown is Zoya Nail Polish in a delicate shade of pink named Bela.

Zoya Reyzis (founder of Zoya Nail Polish) and the Swan Queen of Swan Lake together at last.

Zoya Bela can be worn sheer with one coat or opaque with three coats.
