Break Out The Bronzer

Tis the season to be BRONZE. Long time readers may recognize this post from summer 2010. It still holds true as my favorites for that bronzed glow, so I’m bringing it back as we gear up for summer 2011.

NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna $32

I’ve raved about Laguna on here many times, most recently in April’s Beauty Faves. Laguna is a true brown with golden shimmer. I love Laguna because it isn’t orange and it doesn’t have red undertones like a lot of bronzers do. The subtle golden shimmer keeps it from looking muddy, and it always blends flawlessly. Laguna is perfect for Light to Medium skin tones. If you have a deeper complexion you may want to try NARS Bronzing Powder in Casino.

Benefit Boxed Powder in Hoola $28

Benefit Hoola is a neutral matte bronzing powder. Hoola can be used as a bronzer or even as a contour powder. A little goes a long way so start light and build up to your desired color.

Don’t forget to blend, blend, blend…

Tip: Toss the useless brush. Always use a fluffy full powder brush to lightly sweep and blend bronzer.

CARGO Bronzer in Medium $28

I love CARGO Bronzer in Medium for that natural sunkissed GLOW.

The pan is huge, perfect for a big fluffy brush to fit :D

MAC Bronzing Powder in Matte Bronze $22

I’ve tried ALL of MAC’s bronzing powders and was always so disappointed, UNTIL I tried Matte Bronze. If you are a MAC counter shopper than you may not even know that this color exists. That’s because it is only available at MAC freestanding stores. It’s perfect as a bronzer AND as a contour powder.

I love Matte Bronze all year round.

Tip: MAC Matte Bronze works on all skin tones but is especially good for those with red undertones.

What is YOUR favorite bronzer?

Ps. I realize that it’s not actually “summer” yet, but here in Phoenix we only have two seasons lol.

LOVE this post! Always looking for a new bronzer. I’ve been using Bobbi Brown Illuminating Bronzing Powder in Aruba for a couple weeks now. It’s very flattering and very good for that “no make-up” make up look.

Yeah here in Miami it’s pretty much Summer all the time also so bronzer’s my favorite beauty product. I used Cargo in Medium for a couple of years and then moved on to Too Faced Sun Bunny which I love but I might have to try the Nars or Bobby Brown that Michelle mentioned.

I have been using Laguna for years, and I just tried something different, it’s CoverFX Bronze, it’s really similar to Laguna but I feel like I glow a little more, it’s great if I want a little more dewy complexion, or if I’m using a matte foundation. Still love Laguna though too!

Rachel – where do you get that at? I wouldn’t mind a more glowy version :)

michelle – Is the Bobbi Brown bronzer a shimmer brick? or just a bronzing powder? I love Bobbi Brown shimmerbricks. I have one in Beige.

Mab – I like Too Faced Sun Bunny. I also tried Too Faced Pink Leopard once but it had too much pink in it for me.

ok how do you wear bronzer? i want to try it but i dnt know how i would apply it to my everyday makeup routine

Chelita – use a big fluffy brush and apply bronzer to areas that the sun would naturally hit your face, for a sunkissed look. On the forhead at the hairline, temples, and down the nose. You can also apply under cheekbones and under the jawline to add definition. Start with a little and build up gradually, less is more. Don’t forget to blend well :)

MAC Matte Bronze has been my favorite for yrs! But lately, I have to admit I’m really diggin Wet N Wild’s Princess bronzer! It’s super afforable!

Shew–No, it’s just a bronzer. I LOVE the shimmer bricks too. The illuminating bronzing powder is basically the same I think just waaay less shimmer and pink undertones. I can only wear shimmer brick if I know I will be in an air conditioned room for a long period of time…otherwise I look like a shiny hot mess

michelle – haha I know what u mean. I mostly use my shimmerbrick in fall and winter. I’ll have to check out the illuminating bronzing powder next time I’m near a bobbi brown counter :)

Shew, I work at a place in Portland called Blush Beauty Bar, we’ve got the brand there, I thought Sephora carried it too, but if you can’t find it we’ll ship it to ya ;)
